The National Party prime minister between 1975 and 1984 was Robert Muldoon, a controversial figure whose policies and abrasive style polarised New Zealanders. A good example of Muldoon’s style is this 1976 interview with Simon Walker about Muldoon’s claims that New Zealand was vulnerable to Russian missiles.
